Two brothers that had the same idea: to travel the world… But, be careful not to judge too quickly, because this isn’t merely a trip for pleasure, it’s about the never ending of struggle of human necessity and goals within the world: this trip is about water. In fifteen months, they traveled within 34 different countries to view and discover different practices, and methods surrounding the water management. It is their first expedition from June 2003 until September 2004. Read more!
They spoke and met with different water stakeholders including businesses, ONG, men, women, children… All of them, contribute in their very own way to protect water against water scarcity or poor access to water. Thourgh their struggle, Loïc and Geoffroy discovered many surprising solutions to water challenges showing how much, at the local scale, one is engaged to bring solutions to better manage and to protect water.
Their objective? To share another interpretation of water issues through the routes and faces of the people they meet along their way. With their expedition, they shared their experience with over 5,000 internet viewers, and over 1,000 young people who followed them along their journey.
Hydrotour is also a book and a film aiming at raising awareness of the importance of water, and its preservation. How many millions of men and women each day have access to drinking water? What type of problems are they confronted with? Did you know that some people are still getting their drinking water directly from the Danube River? Brought by their optimism, their joyful adventure, although sometimes risky, Loic and Geoffroy deal with water in its most basic form: life itself.
All along their voyage, more than 1,000 children had participated in their Hydrotour contest, organised with the House of Environment and Airports of Paris, who followed Loic and Geoffroy by Internet. In May 2004, they discovered the winner of the contest organised in the Réunion Island and spent a few days with students.
Their way of aided with their curiosity and their worries about nature, in order to further understand those who hold a regard for the hopeful future of water.
